Ruger 1022 cleaning hole. After doing a little shooting this weekend, i decided to correct the factory oversight. What is the minimum to buy on a 10/22? The tool consists of a high quality ¼” high speed steel drill bit, affixed to a 3/8” diameter steel drill bit extension, and a machined delrin® drill guide bushing.

I'd hate to have to remove the barrel each time if it means sighting in all over again after cleaning. Fishing, rods & reels, camping gear, tents and much more. This means that you have to clean it from muzzle, which can be very damaging on the crown and eventually hurt your accuracy.

I want to know how i can run a cleaning patch (on a rod or not) through the bore of my 10/22. The first picture is the drill bit and bushing that goes into the hole for the barrel mounting. All you need to do is look inside at the smooth, clean interior to realize that a machined receiver can be held to much tighter tolerances for a precise fit with other parts.

But since the receiver is a cast aluminum box, you can't clean it from the rear of the receiver like you can on a bolt action. Not so fun to clean afterwards. The rear cleaning hole in the receiver is a very good idea, and i'd like to see ruger start it themselves.

A rear cleaning rod hole in a 10/22® rifle allows the use of a bore brush to thoroughly clean the bore of lead and powder fouling when necessary, without removing the barrel. Funny this should come up. I hate cleaning any gun from the muzzle end, and this is the main drawback to this rifle.
